Research on the simplified calculation of base-isolated buildings

The simplified computational models of the structure base-isolated by sliding resilient-friction systems is proposed in this paper. And then, its free-vibration characters and the formula of the maximum displacements under harmonic and random excitation are discussed. By analyzing the effects of various factors of structures on the base displacement, the simplified formula of the maximum base displacement and the maximum base shear are also presented. The method and steps of calculating and designing the base--isolated structure are discussed.
