Synthesis and characterization of iron-silicate analogs of ZSM-5 type zeolite

Crystalline ferrisilicate analogs of ZSM-5 were synthesized and characterized by XRD, framework IR, chemical analysis, and scanning electron microscopy techniques. The samples were white in color. An increase in the unit cell parameters and shifts in the framework IR bands toward lower frequencies supported the incorporation of Fe in the lattice. Fe-ZSM-5 zeolite showed relatively high activity and shape selectivity in the conversion of methanol to lower olefins.
