Apparent Depth Filter For Gravity Anomalies And A Case Study

A wavenumber domain filter is designed to obtain potential anomalies beneath the observing surface due to deep sources. The filter can be used for the inversion of the potential field data without the knowledge of the physical properties of the rock. This technique requires to continue the potential data upward and downward several times using analytic method and differential method in order to eliminate the shallow disturbance and finally continue the data downward to a depth beneath the observing surface. The mass center depth of a source is identified based on the maximum and minimum values of downward continuation potential data. The results based on synthetic modelling and computing of real data of somewhere are satisfactory.
