Investigation of laser damage of materials assisted by DC spark discharge

The mechanism of laser damage of metal and insulator assisted by DC spark discharge was analyzed. The experimental schemes of laser processing assisted by DC spark discharge and the results were introduced. The results show that the quality of laser cutting and laser drilling can be improved considerably when proper DC spark discharge is used. This method is expected to be widely used in laser processing.
