The inhibitive effect and mechanism of enamine-molybdate MDTA for the pitting corrosion on 1Cr18Ni9Ti stainless steel has been researched by many methods. It has been found that MDTA has good inhibition on the initiation & propagation of pitting on 1Cr18Ni9Ti stainless steel. It characters anodictype inhibitor. The Nyquist spectra of stainless steel in MD-TA solution has single capacitive with larger radius than that in blank solution. The passivating ability of stainless steel and the repairing ability of the protective film formed in MDTA solution are enhanced. The synergistic inhibition function between organic and inorganic functional groups in MDTA molecules have been decribed and discussed.
