Distal epiphysis injury of radius in adolescence (a report of 51 cases)

Reported were fifty 1 cases of distal epiphysis injury of radius in adolescence treated from 1981 to 1992. According to Salter-Harris' classification there were 8 cases of type I, 35 cases of type II, 6 cases of type III, 1 case of type IV and 1 case of type V injury. Manual reduction was used in 46 cases, percutaneous kirschner wire reduction in 5 cases. Satisfactory results were gained in all the cases, and no case was found with any growth disterbance of epiphysis through a long term follow-up. The authors mainly discussed manual skills and factors that affect the prognosis, and suggested that special attention should be paid to the diagnosis and treament of type I and type V injury.
