Colorimetric detection of hepatitis E virus based on reverse transcription loop mediated isothermal amplification (RT-LAMP) assay.

•It is a fast and cost-effective method for the fast detection of hepatitis E virus, only simple equipment is needed in the detection.•This method has a good sensitivity, as low as 101 copies of HEV RNA can be detected.•This method enables visual detection of the result. It is a good alternative for point of care use.
