Simulation of transport phenomena with pulverized coal injection around the raceway zone in the blast furnace

A mathematical model of pulverized coal combustion based on the reaction kinetics is developed to describe the transport phenomena in the raceway. The model integrates pulverized coal combustion in the raceway and coke combustion in the coke bed. The distribution of flow, gas composition and pulverized coal combustion are taken into account. The results show that the gas flow forms a recirculation in the raceway and the flow tendency of coal particle is concomitant with the mainstream of flow. The change of gas component is that CO2 content increases firstly and then decreases, CO content continues to increase. At the blowing of oxygen-enriched, the position at which the maximum consumption of fixed carbon is shifted toward tuyere lance. Meanwhile the final CO content increases remarkable
