Organophosphorus pesticide and ester analysis by using comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography with flame photometric detection.

•GC×GC-FPD(P-mode) was applied to detection of 37 phosphorus (P)-containing compounds.•The method improves resolution of P-compounds that coelute in the first dimension.•P-compounds are analyzed with excellent sensitivity supported by cryogenic modulation.•The FPD(P-mode) selectivity allows analysis in high hydrocarbon (H/C) matrix.•Soil samples and spiked chemical weapon compounds in H/C matrix are readily screened.
