SAW-RFID enabled temperature sensor

•We propose a novel SAW-RFID-enabled temperature sensor, which has large coding capacity with high-accuracy temperature measurements.•The relationship between the time length of a slot and the decoding errors is deduced to eliminate ambient temperature fluctuations.•An analytical procedure is presented to solve the phase ambiguity problem more efficiently and reduce costs in sensor calibration.
