摘要

•The waste Bitter apple (BA) peel has been carbonized to synthesize photoactive Carbon Dots (CD).•It efficiently photo-degrades the Crystal Violet (CV) dye under the presence of sunlight.•The insight of degradation mechanism was explained by trap experiment, using different scavengers.
