Research on dynamic simulation of the pressure in ethylene plant compressor system during emergency shutdown

Based on the analysis of compressor anti-surge system of ethylene plant, a mathematical model and its solving method for the dynamic simulation of compressor system pressure during emergency shutdown were set up. By comparing the field data with the calculation results, the reliability of the model was proved. The dynamic simulation of the pressure in an ethylene plant cracking gas compressor system was performed, and the quantitative analysis results showed that both setting up a bypass anti-sure valve for the 3rd stage to 1st stage anti-surge loop and using the 5th stage pressure control valve as the relief valve for the 5th stage to 4th stage anti-surge loop can significantly reduce the time length of system pressure balance and reduce the possibility of compressor reverse rotation. Dynamic simulation of a propylene refrigerant compressor system was also made, the time length of system pressure balance was gained, and the key factors that influence the time length were identified.
