Operation capability study on ±1100 kV/ 5000 A thyristor converter valve during AC system faults

The author introduces the basic structure of ±1100 kV/5000 A converter valve, and analyzes the limiting factors of converter valve operation current. AC system ground fault which cause the converter station AC bus voltage reduced will affect the operating conditions of the converter valve. Take the ±1100 kV/5000 A thyristor converter valve which is produced by Xi'an XD Power Systems Co., Ltd. for an example, through the main circuit parameter calculation and thyristor junction temperature calculation based on the actual operation condition analysis of the ±1100 kV/5000 A converter valve in the AC system fault operation ability.
