Effect of the aquifer media on groundwater pollution remediation by air sparging

In-house laboratory technology was employed to study the influence of aquifer media on in-situ air sparging for the remediation of contaminated groundwater, in order to further understanding the impact factors of in-situ repair technology. The result shows that the diesel in aqueous phase was removed remarkably in the beginning, but the removal rate became diminishing as time went on. The relationship between pollutant removal rate and time follows logarithmic curve, and correlation equation is y = aln x + b, 7 R 2 = 0.8024-0.9071. The hydraulic conductivity has an enormous implication on the contaminated groundwater remediation. There is a linear relationship between hydraulic conductivity and removal rate of the pollutant basically. The bigger the hydraulic conductivity is, the better the pollutant removal efficiency is. There is also a linear relationship between density of aquifer media and removal rate. The bigger aquifer medium density is, the lower the pollutant removal efficiency is.
