摘要
While diagnoses are coded by ICD across the world, there is no universally accepted coding system for procedures. In man), countries there is not even a local classification for medical procedures. During the last years, the question of the introduction of a common/ international medical procedure classification has been raised. In Australia. the International Classification of Health Interventions (ICHI) was proposed as the basis of an international procedure classification. As an alternative we postulate a multiaxial framework for procedure classification - "System de Codification" of the French "Classification Commune des Actes Medicaux" (CCAM) - for the generation of a procedure shorilist. We mapped and compared ICHI and CCAM Basic Coding System focusing on the appropriateness of both systems for supporting the comparability of procedure data. Considering the ongoing standardization of terminologies and classifications for health care telematics we strongly recommend to improve the structure of ICHI using the benefits of the CCAM architecture.
