Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Studies of the Heteropolysaccharides Alginate,Gum arabic and Gum Xanthan

One- and two-dimensional H-1 and C-13 NMR (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance) sprectra were recorded for the industrially important heteropolysaccharides alginate, gum arabic and gum xanthan. The NMR results provided information about the primary structure of these plant derived polysaccharides. Our results are in the main in agreement with those determined previously by methylation analysis and other classical methods.
