Primary esophageal small cell carcinoma: Present status of research

Primary esophageal small cell carcinoma(PESC) is one of the rare types of esophageal cancer,characterized by high malignancy and poor prognosis.Its biological behavior,treatment mode and prognosis are markedly different from those of squamous cell carcinoma.The incidence of PESC reported at home and abroad is obviously increasing.This review outlines the status of PESC research and some different opinions about it.
