Investigation of SnS cleavage faces and evaporated cleavage faces by surface decoration and chemical etching

SnS cleavage faces and evaporated cleavage faces have been studied by the surface decoration method of Bassett and by chemical etching. Anisotropic circles and spirals with double lines were observed in the decoration experiments. The decoration patterns and the shape of the etch pits suggest evaporation mechanisms strongly related to the orthorhombic crystal structure.
