Business In the Grid: The BIG Project

Grid computing has gained lots of popularity in the last decade in particular in the academic environment. Several technically sound prototypes of Grid middleware systems have been created and are in use in data and/or computing intensive science domains. Although several multi-national Grid projects have industry partners, Grid technology is still not yet fully accepted in industry or business domains. We have launched the Business In the Grid (BIG) project to first make business aware of Grid technology and then try to explore new business models. One of the early out- comes is an Economy Grid layer model, which is presented along with the detailed project goals.
