The geological characteristics of Haojiahe copper ore deposit and exploration practices

Haojiahe sandstone-type copper ore deposit is in the sandstone-type metallogenic belt of Dianzhong basin.Fluvial-lacustrine alternating facies is favorable for forming of sedimentary ore deposits and structure controls the distribution of ore deposits.Matoushan Formation, especially its middle-lower part, Haojiahe Section, is the major hostrock of deposits.The mineralization occurs in pale-violet alternating zone and main commercial ore bodies are hosted by pale sandstone immediately adjacent to the boundary between pale and violet sandstone.Among the hostrocks including grey sandstone, conglomeratic sandstone and shale, the sandstone with good penetrability is the best one.The mineralization is good where there are simple alternation of pale and violet, the pale upper and violet lower strata, clear boundary, and slowattitude.Mineral zone implies the locations of ore bodies and center of rich and thick ore bodies.On the bases of these characteristics mentioned above, we predicted the target and got a successful result after exploration.
