\This paper discusses the design and testing of the new HAWAII-2 devices. The HAWAII-2 design is largely based on the very successful HAWAII-1 devices developed by Rockwell, but with an extended detector array size of 2048x2048. The device was designed for use in the AEOS spectrograph, a cross-dispersed spectrograph intended to cover a large spectral range in a single exposure, therefore, array size was of paramount importance.
