A new metal-organic framework [(LaL)center dot 3H(2)O](n) (L = chelidamic acid) with good optical properties was obtained through the hydrothermal reaction. It is the third three-dimensional framework constructed from chelidamic acid and presents a rare (3,6)-connected topology with Schlafli symbol (4(2).6)(2)(4(4).6(2).8(7).10(2)).
