Scaling of the Turbulent Boundary Layer at High Reynolds Numbers

Experimental results are presented for high Reynolds number turbulent boundary layers. A flat plate zero pressure gradient layer has been studied in a new high Reynolds number boundary layer tunnel. Measurements were made of the mean flow in the Reynolds number range of 3.6 x 10(3) < R-theta < 6.0 x 10(4) based on momentum thickness. The data supports the existence of a logarithmic law of the wall in the overlap region and constants kappa = 0.41 and A = 5.0 are found to best fit the data.
