Morbidity And Mortality In Rats On Parenteral-Nutrition Kept In Glass Reservoirs

Rats were given complete parenteral nutrition (CPN). The nutritional solutions were kept in glass bottle reservoirs, which excludes leaching of possible toxic matter from plastic nutritional reservoirs. Nevertheless, all rats in the present study developed serious abnormalities in liver, spleen and lungs. One hundred per cent spontaneous mortality occurred within 69 days of CPN.
