SAR ship detection based on salience region extraction and multi-branch attention

•GLO is proposed to deal with complex background interference in the inshore scenes.•The SRE module can extract the regions where ships may exist from the background.•The proposed MBA module increases the salience of ship features.•Our method achieves good results and is superior to other mainstream methods.
