Impairments of vestibular system in infants at risk of early brain damage.

Children with early brain damage often present with balance disorders. We evaluated the vestibular apparatus function in 110 infants at risk of brain lesions. Our study confirmed a statistically significant correlation between vestibular apparatus dysfunction and the degree of neurological risk. Early recognition of vestibular disorders pre-conditions adequate rehabilatation and supports the acquisition of motor skills.
