Electrical stimulation can be used to promote wound healing. We report here a study of the influence of MENS on the collagen (I and III) growth during the healing process of a chemically damaged rat skins. We have submitted 8 Wistar rats to two chemical injuries on the dorsal region, using oxygen peroxide 20% v/v. One injury was considered as control and the other was submitted to MENS treatment. The skin injuries were monitored during the whole study and the histological sections micrographies were taken 12 days after the injuries. The collagen type I density was determined by processing the digitalized images of histological sections. The statistical analysis of the data shows a significant increase of collagen type I density due to MENS application.
