The resolution of photo-multipliers in scintillation spectrometers

The resolution of scintillation spectrometers for ?-rays is influenced by several factors. In this paper a method for separately judging the individual factors is discussed. The influence of statistical processes in the photo-multiplier and the possibility of improving the resolution of the scintillation spectrometer by choosing the most suitable photo-multiplier and its working parameters is particularly studied.
