Synthesis, characterization and magnetic properties of Ln2Te4O11 (Ln ≡ La, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, and Ho)

The different mixed oxides Lr2Te4O11 were obtained at temperatures between 973 and 1073 K. The structural characterization of these materials has been carried out by X-ray and electron diffraction. The magnetic susceptibilities have been measured in the temperature range 4.2–300 K. From 50 to 300 K the data fit a Curie-Weiss behaviour and the Weiss constants are negative for Ln2Te4O11 (Ln ≡ Nd, Ho and Gd). Magnetic susceptibility shows a quasi-Curie-like behaviour for Gd2Te4O11. The experimental magnetic susceptibility has been fitted by using the theoretical equation of van Vleck for Sm2Te4O11 and Eu2Te4O11.
