摘要
Mortality and morbidity in haemodialysis patients remain high in spite of great improvements in technology that one would expect to improve patient survival. The general effort of the scientific community to minimise morbidity and mortality in haemodialysis patients has identified three main topics that can influence patient outcome and well-being: the dialysis dose, nutrition, and biocompatibility of the dialysis procedure. The aim of this review is to provide a critical assessment of the current clinical evidence supporting a role for each one of these th ree main factors on patient outcome.
