The Influence Of Intermittent Infusion, Age And Strain On Organ Changes After Complete Parenteral-Nutrition In Rat

This study indicates that intermittent infusion, age and strain have no importance in the development of organ changes after CPN in rats, compared to continuous CPN infusion in young Wistar rats. One hundred per cent spontaneous mortality was independent of strain and infusion technique. All rats demonstrated granulomatous disease in liver, spleen and lungs. Vascular inflammatory changes and fat droplets were discovered in pulmonary vessels. Some old rats revealed hepatic small vacuolated steatosis.
