The Role of Leptin and its Receptor in Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma of Human

Objective To investigate the relationship between leptin and its receptor and esophageal squam ous cell carcinoma,providing a theoretical basis for its pathogenesis.Methods We detected the mRNA expression of leptin,Ob-Ra,Ob-Rb in 20 cases of normal esophagus and 24 cases of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma by RT-PCR.Results(1)The positive rates of leptin,Ob-Ra,Ob-Rb mRNA expression in normal esophagus were 50.0%,50.0%,40.0%,respctively,and in esophageal squamous cell carcinom were 79.2%,83.3%,83.3%,respectively.Compared with normal esophagus,the positive rates of leptin,Ob-Ra,Ob-Rb mRNA expression in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma were higher(P0.05).(2)The intensities of leptin,Ob-Ra,Ob-Rb mRNA expression in exophageal squamous cell carcinoma were higher than that in normal esophagus(P0.05).Conclusion The positive rates and intensities of leptin,Ob-Ra,Ob-Rb mRNA expression in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma were higher than that in normal esophagus.Our research suggested that leptin and its receptor may play an important role in the development of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.
