Early surgical treatment of traumatic facial paralysis

Objective To retrospective summarize the effect of early operative treatment in 5 patients with facial nerve injury. Methods From January 2000 to August 2006, 5 cases with facial nerve injury caused by sharp apparatus were treated by facial nerve end-to-end anastomosis. 4 cases underwent the repair of the facial nerve immediately, the other case underwent the repair 3 months later. Results After 5～8 months following up, all patients were satisfied with the recoverye of facial muscles function. Conclusion It is the best choice to repair facial nerve injuries by early using the facial nerve anastomosis.
