THE OPTICAL SYSTEM FOR A SMITH-PURCELL EXPERIMENT AT 45MeV

Smith-Purcell (SP) radiation has been used to investi- gate the longitudinal profile of a 45MeV, picosecond long bunched beam at the FELIX facility, FOM Institute. The three important optical elements that made this experi- ment possible were (i) high quality optical filters, (ii) non- imaging light concentrators, (iii) and a system to rapidly change between gratings.
