摘要
HCI research in the University of Maryland's Human- Computer Interaction Laboratory (HCIL) has been strong for more than twenty-one years. In this paper we describe HCI classes that are offered by Departments of Computer Science and Psychology and the College of Information Studies at the University of Maryland. We also examine the benefits and drawbacks of three options for creating an HCI Ph. D. program: single-unit, multi-unit, and cross-unit. Author Keywords single-unit, multi-unit, and cross-unit Ph.D. programs; universal usability, visualization, children's technology, natural language retrieval, user frustration, online community, creativity support, HCI education.
