Training of Geriatric Mental Health Providers in CBT Interventions for Older Adults
Handbook of Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies with Older Adults(2008)
摘要
With an increasingly wide range of mental health professionals working with older populations, the need for training in effective
intervention strategies for this population is growing. While the literature describing theoretical developments in intervention
strategies and controlled trials demonstrating efficacy with respect to older cohorts are on the rise, there is a lack of
focus on the underpinnings of effective training of mental health professionals, including data on the efficacy of training
methods and positive and negative outcomes of different training strategies and approaches. This issue may be of particular
importance in work with older adults; for example, Pinquart and Srensen’s meta-analysis of treatment for depression in older
adults showed an effect for training in work with older adults (Pinquart & Srenson, 2001).
