Statistical models of the local structure in ternary and quaternary zinc-blende structures

The statistical models of the local structure in ternary and quaternary zinc-blende compounds are reviewed. The models parameterize the observed features of the local structure in these compounds. The basic experimental method is the extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) method. The recently introduced strained tetrahedra model is described and its application to the analysis of the EXAFS results is presented.
