Gibberellin Metabolism in Intact Plants of Raphanus sativus L.

The metabolism of gibberelline (GAs) in intact plants of Raphanus sativus was investigated. With [H-2]GA feeds, [H-2]GA(1) from [H-2]GA(4), and [H-2]GA(4) and [H-2]GA(20) from [H-2]GA(9) were metabolized. Since [H-2]GA(20) was not converted into [H-2]GA(1), endogenous GA(1) may have been biosynthesized from GA(9) via GA(4) rather than from GA(20). The radioactivity of [H-3]GA(9) and [H-3]GA(20) was much more strongly transported among the plant organs than that of [H-3]GA(1) and [H-3]GA(4).
