Studies on ferromagnetic 1,2-bis(n-octylsulphinyl)ethane copper(II) complexes

Copper(II) complexes of high and low melting points, 1,2-bis(n-octylsulphinyl)ethane (alpha-bose and beta-bose), have been synthesized. The complexes were assigned the formulae: [Cu-2(alpha-bose)(4)](ClO4)(4), (1), [Cu-2(beta-bose)(4)](ClO4)(4) (2), [Cu-2(alpha-bose)(2)(NO3)(3)] (NO3). 2H(2)O (3) and [Cu-2(beta-bose)(2)(NO3)(4)]. H2O (4), on the basis of their elemental analyses, electrical conductance, magnetic measurements (room and variable temperature) and IR studies. Ferromagnetic and binuclear complexe have also been confirmed.
