A Survey on AIDS ielated Chaeactecistics and HIV jvuualence among CSWs in of Entertainmenplaces in Funan County,Anhui Province

Objective To investigate HIV awareness and characteristics of sexual behavior among CSWs in entertainment places and provide information for prevention and control of AIDS.Methods All the entertainment places in the area were assessed through stratified sampling.The CSWs in all sampling places were investigated anonymously with questionnaires and detected for HIV antibody and syphilis antibody.Results Of 105 CSWs,103 blood samples was drawn and tested for HIV and syphilis,there were 2 cases of HIV and no one was found to be infected with syphilis..The youngest was 16 years old..Some of them knew something about HIV,However,there was still considerable lack of some knowledge about AIDS.The scores about the routine of HIV/AIDS transmit was conspicuously higher than those about the non-transmission.Most CSWs acquired HIV/AIDS knowledge by TV,newspaper and doctor.Some of them never used condom.Conclusions There were high AIDS related risk behavior amongs CSWs.Health education and condom use should be strengthened to control HIV transmission through sexual behavior.
