New developments in lung cancer in 2007

Summary The treatment of lung cancer has made important progress within the last few years. In early operable tumour stages, adjuvant chemotherapy has been established whereas in advanced tumour stages new targeted therapies are available in addition to classic chemotherapy. New knowledge in the area of molecular biology allows more individualised treatment strategies, for classic chemotherapy as well as modern targeted therapies. A new era of individualised therapies of lung cancer has begun.
