Applying AOSD to Legacy Code

Existing work on AOP has focused only on systems developed from scratch, and not much focus has been put over applying AOP to legacy code in existing systems. Systems such as banking or hospital systems may have millions of lines of existing code being used. AOP techniques can be applied on top of this code, instead of replacing it to achieve separation of concerns or to add new functionality. In this paper, we will focus on extending legacy code with aspects.
