Time of flight measurements of the energy spectrum of neutrons emitted from a spallation source and moderated in water

摘要

A spallation neutron source producing neutrons suitable for neutron capture cancer therapy is of great interest. A measurement is reported of the energy spectrum in the region from 10 eV to 1 MeV of neutrons produced by protons of 72 MeV stopped in copper and moderated in water. The results are in good agreement with Monte Carlo calculations.
