A study of the compositional homogeneity of an NdFe master alloy, ingot

The compositional homogeneity of an NdFe alloy ingot obtained by molten chloride salt electrolysis has been studied by chemical analysis, metallographic examination, hardness testing, X-ray phase composition inspection and scanning electron microscope analysis. A proposal for improving the production process of NdFe master alloy ingots is made. The experimental results show that the composition of the obtained NdFe ingot is inhomogeneous.
