On the formation of the pharmacists in the United States of America. From the independance of the United States, the formation of pharmacists, which was initially only made in the apothecaries, came up in some special schools. The first College of pharmacy was created in 1821 at Philadelphy ; at the end of the XIXth century, there were at least 55 colleges. But not any harmony was present in the pharmaceutical education and in the nature of the degrees. The necessity of a standard course in pharmacy was the origin, in 1900, of the American Conference of Pharmaceutical Studies, which became in 1921 the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy. Although an increasing number of Colleges took part in the works of this Association, the discussions were not entirely achieved at the beginning of the XXIth century. One of the more constructive aspects was the development of the clinical pharmacy and the pharmaceutical care from 1964.
