Thermodynamic consistency of PNJL models with Pauli-Villars regularization

It is shown that the Pauli-Villars regularization resolves incongruities which have been reported in connection to several thermodynamic variables evaluated within the Nambu--Jona-Lasinio and Polyakov loop extended models regulated with a 3D sharp cutoff.
