Effect of trimetazidine combined with carvedilol in the treatment of senile congestive heart failure

Objective To observe the effect of trimetazidine(TMZ) combined with carvedilol on the treatment of senile congestive heart failure(CHF).Methods 66 patients with CHF randomly divided into the treatment group(TMZ and carvedilol plus routine therapy n=33) and the control group(routine therapy n=33).Results The treatment efficiency of the treatment group and the control group were 93.9% and 66.7%(P0.01).No adverse reaction related to the drug were observed.The improvements of heart rate,blood pressure,left ventricular ejection fraction,left ventricular end of diastolic volume,left ventricular end of systolic volume,cardiac output,stroke volume,after treatment in the treatment group were significant(P0.01 or P0.05).The difference between the treatment group and the control group was also significant(P0.01 or P0.05).Conclusion TMZ plus carvedilol with routine therapy may be a safe way to treat senile CHF.
