Applicability Analysis of Different Order Batching Algorithms

The best methods for batching orders in current business warehouse management were reviewed.In the condition of human batch selection,various warehouse allocation and storage quantities,five batching order methods,i.e.,FIFS,MAA,COG,GSM and GS were analyzed.Based on the order data from one large state-owned enterprise and computer generated orders,the efficiencies of order picking under different methods were then analyzed by java programs and the results were compared.The results showed that MAA heuristics method had the best efficiency and is thus recommended for practical usage.
