Structure and thermal relaxation of metallic glass Fe40Ni40P14B6 studied by Mössbauer effect

Structural relaxation of metallic glass Fe40Ni40P14B6 (METGLAS 2826) induced by thermal annealing is studied by 57Fe Mössbauer spectroscopy. The dense random packed model, microcrystalline model and amorphous cluster model of metallic glasses are considered. Among the three proposed structure models, the amorphous cluster model is found to be the most suitable for describing the observed data about the local structure of METGLAS 2826.
