摘要
ABSTRACTA significant amount of research has focused on the problem of implementing large-scale search engines in peer-to-peer environments. However, gaps in both performance and perspective remain between conventional approaches and those explored in the peer-to-peer community. In this talk, we give a brief overview of search engine architectures and performance issues from the perspective of a researcher focusing on conventional engines. We then discuss the main differences between the two approaches, suggest areas for fruitful interaction, and list open problems.
